Recommendation: Would not recommend staying in Dolan Springs, Lake Mead City & Certain parts of Kingman. Unfortunately, parts of those areas struggle with drug issues. While we also love the experience the West Rim offers its nightly accommodations can be costly. Booking a rental home allows you the flexibility to travel how you want on your own accord.
It depends on what you are looking for! Tour busses can be a great option for those wanting a public, group experience. While they can offer a consistent experience- for the cost it is usually more affordable & enjoyable to do it yourself. Additionally, you are limited to the times, dates and operational hours of the companies often tours can feel rushed & run-of-the-mill. We find that booking a rental (hopefully ours :) ) and visiting on on your own is the best option. To each there own.
